Lounge Network has unveiled Ehiz Dadaboy as the host of its new Lounge FM breakfast show, bringing the viral Radio Is Dead campaign to a memorable conclusion.
For one week, unexplained placards appeared across Lagos, Abuja and Benin City. The message was direct: Radio Is Dead. With no logo or brand name attached, the campaign quickly sparked debates across social media.
However, the conversation was never about announcing the end of radio. Instead, it was designed to challenge that perception and prepare audiences for a new chapter at Lounge Network.
The Mystery Behind Radio Is Dead
The campaign began with a simple but provocative statement. People saw the placards on the streets, shared them online and debated whether radio still had a place in modern Nigerian culture.
Some agreed with the message, while others defended radio as an important source of information, entertainment and connection. Meanwhile, Lounge Network allowed the discussion to grow without immediately revealing its involvement.
This approach turned the audience into active participants. Rather than receiving a conventional advertisement, people helped shape and spread the campaign through their reactions.
Ehiz Dadaboy Returns to the Microphone
Lounge Network eventually ended the speculation with a live on-air reveal. Ehiz Dadaboy entered the studio as the new central host of the Lounge FM Lagos breakfast show.
The reveal video showed him scrolling through the social media posts, arguments and reactions generated by the campaign. He then challenged the original message and declared that radio remained active.
His return brings a familiar voice back to the airwaves. It also signals Lounge FM’s renewed commitment to creating relevant, engaging and audience-focused programming.
The new Lounge FM breakfast show airs on weekday mornings from 6:00 a.m. It combines music, conversations, listener calls and live reactions from the community that helped make the campaign successful.
The announcement and campaign reveal were also covered by The Guardian Nigeria.
More Than One Presenter or Programme
Although Ehiz Dadaboy’s return was central to the reveal, the campaign also reintroduced the wider Lounge Network family.
The network includes Lounge FM Lagos, Lounge FM Abuja, Rewind FM Lagos, Rewind FM Abuja and Bside FM Benin. Each station contributed to the campaign in a way that reflected its audience and identity.
Rewind FM responded with Radio Raised Us, a nostalgic celebration of memorable Nigerian radio moments. Listeners shared stories about important announcements, songs and personalities they first encountered through radio.
Bside FM Benin brought local energy to the conversation through its Radio Don Die response. Its presenters used Nigerian Pidgin and humour to connect with listeners in a familiar voice.
Meanwhile, Lounge FM Abuja prepared its audience for another stage of the network-wide rollout.
These different responses showed that a campaign does not need to speak in one voice everywhere. Instead, each part can adapt to its audience while supporting the same central idea.
The EBA Strategy Behind the Conversation
When Lounge Network approached Eni Brand Architect to amplify the Radio Is Dead campaign, we developed the strategy needed to turn the idea into a wider conversation.
EBA managed the campaign strategy, creative direction, content production, influencer amplification and social media execution. We carefully coordinated each stage so that public curiosity continued to grow without revealing the campaign too early.
The unbranded placards created the initial mystery. Social media content sustained the debate, while influencers introduced different perspectives that encouraged more people to participate.
Finally, the reveal connected every part of the conversation to Lounge Network, Ehiz Dadaboy and the new breakfast show.
The result demonstrates what can happen when a strong idea meets clear strategy, cultural understanding and disciplined execution.
What the Lounge FM Breakfast Show Represents
The campaign did not attempt to prove that radio was dying. Instead, it demonstrated that radio could still surprise people, influence culture and generate conversations across both traditional and digital platforms.
The new Lounge FM breakfast show represents this connection between radio’s established strengths and the changing habits of modern audiences.
Radio remains valuable because it feels immediate and personal. At the same time, digital platforms allow its conversations, presenters and memorable moments to travel far beyond the broadcast signal.
By connecting street activation, social media and live radio, Lounge Network created a campaign that allowed each platform to strengthen the others.
Radio Is Active
The Radio Is Dead campaign began with a statement that divided opinions. It ended by reminding audiences that radio remains active, relevant and capable of evolving.
Ehiz Dadaboy’s return gives Lounge FM Lagos a recognisable personality around which it can build its new morning experience. More importantly, the campaign has shown that radio can still command attention when it understands its audience and communicates creatively.
At EBA, we believe effective campaigns should do more than display a message. They should create conversations that people want to join and experiences they will remember.
